The future of the profession is sitting in a lecture hall right now — possibly wondering, at this very moment, whether choosing law was a mistake. This series is for them, and by them.

We open with a single question: Why law? Not the answer given at family gatherings, and not the one rehearsed for admission interviews — the real one. The courtroom drama watched at fourteen; the injustice witnessed at home or in the street that refused to be forgotten; the parent’s dream inherited willingly or otherwise; the simple, honourable discovery that words, properly arranged, can protect people.

How to take part

37. Write your answer in no more than 150 words, in English or Bangla.
38. Include your name, university, and year of study. If you prefer to be published anonymously, say so — we will honour it.
39. Email it to editor@thehonourable.org with the subject line “Why Law — [Your Name]”.
40. Five answers will be selected for each round-up post, edited only for spelling and length.
